Mosleh Uddin Appointed New DMP Commissioner

Additional Inspector General of Police (Addl. IGP) Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been appointed the new Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

A gazette notification to this effect was issued on Sunday (May 17) by the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by order of the President. The notification was signed by Deputy Secretary Tawsif Ahmed of the Ministry.

The gazette notification states that this order, issued in the public interest, will be effective immediately.

The post of DMP Commissioner had been vacant for nearly two months. Following the resignation of former Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, Additional Commissioner Md. Sarwar served as the acting Commissioner. However, he retired on May 14 after completing his term of government service.

Mosleh Uddin Ahmed joined the police cadre in 1995 through the 15th BCS. Throughout his career, he has held significant responsibilities in Dhaka and Chittagong Metropolitan Police, and also served as Superintendent of Police in Kushtia, Bhola, and Sherpur districts. Furthermore, he served in the UN peacekeeping mission UNAMID.

Mosleh Uddin Ahmed was promoted to Additional IGP from the post of DIG (Headquarters) on October 24, 2024. Most recently, he served as the Chief of CID. Prior to that, Mosleh Uddin also held the position of Additional IGP (Logistics) at the Police Headquarters.
