US Warships Flee Hormuz Strait Amidst Relentless Missile Attacks: Iran

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval unit has claimed that during a large-scale joint military operation, they inflicted significant damage on critical US Navy military equipment. They asserted that three US destroyers were forced to flee the Strait of Hormuz in the face of their relentless attacks.

In a statement regarding the operation conducted on Thursday (May 7) evening, the IRGC’s naval commander announced that the operation was carried out in response to two “provocative actions” by the United States military.

According to his statement, an Iranian oil tanker near Jask port was first attacked, violating a ceasefire. Subsequently, US Navy destroyers continued to advance towards the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, despite warnings.

In response, Iranian forces claimed to have conducted an extensive and coordinated military operation. This operation involved the use of anti-ship ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and explosive drones, all equipped with high-capacity warheads and launched directly at the US destroyers.

The IRGC commander claimed that intelligence surveillance indicated significant damage to US naval equipment. He further stated that following Iran’s intense and precise attacks, three US warships quickly withdrew from the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Ibrahim Zulfagari, spokesperson for the country’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said that Iranian forces immediately responded to continuous US military aggression in this strategic waterway.

He accused the aggressive and illegal US military of attacking an Iranian oil tanker, violating a ceasefire.

At the same time, he warned that the United States and its allies must understand that, as in the past, the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond harshly and strongly to any aggression or violation of a ceasefire and will not hesitate to do so.

Pro-Iranian sources claim that this vital waterway remains virtually closed to US and its allied ships.
