Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency has claimed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy fired shots targeting a US oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
Citing a military source, Tasnim reported that IRGC members launched an operation targeting the ship when it attempted to cross the Strait of Hormuz with its radar system turned off.
The report also stated that the United States retaliated following this incident. Tasnim claimed that US forces later fired shots into an empty area near Bandar Abbas. While sounds of explosions were heard, the news agency reported no casualties or property damage.
There was no immediate official reaction from the United States regarding the incident.
