Renewed Tension in Middle East as US Attacks Iran

US military forces have attacked several locations in southern Iran, according to US news outlet Fox News. This information was released on Monday, citing Tim Hawkins, spokesperson for the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The report stated, “US forces launched defensive strikes to protect their personnel from threats posed by Iranian forces.” The targets of the attacks were identified as missile launch sites and Iranian naval vessels attempting to lay mines at sea.

CENTCOM spokesperson Tim Hawkins said that even amid the ongoing ceasefire, the United States is taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of its forces, while still exercising restraint.

Earlier, various Iranian media outlets reported explosions in the important southern port city of Bandar Abbas. The semi-official Mehr News Agency stated that the situation is currently under control following the explosions. These incidents have raised concerns about renewed tension in the Middle East.
