Numerous people have been killed and injured in Israeli attacks across southern and eastern Lebanon. These attacks occurred after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to intensify military operations against Hezbollah.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that at least 31 people, including several children, were killed in these latest attacks.
The Israeli military stated that during the night of these bombings, one of the most severe since the US-brokered ceasefire began in mid-April, they attacked over 100 Hezbollah infrastructures and fighters.
On Monday (May 25), Netanyahu stated that he had ordered ‘harsher measures’ in targeting Hezbollah.
During a security cabinet meeting on Tuesday (May 26), he said, Israel is ‘intensifying our operations in Lebanon.’
He added that the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is operating with large ground forces, occupying key areas. They are ‘strengthening the security zone’ to protect northern Israeli settlements from Hezbollah attacks.
Notably, both sides have repeatedly violated the ceasefire, raising concerns that this could disrupt ongoing complex discussions between the US, Israel, and Iran to end the war. Earlier, on Tuesday, within the ceasefire period, the US military launched new airstrikes in southern Iran. These attacks targeted Iranian missile bases and naval vessels attempting to plant mines at sea.
